Councilwoman Michelle Kerr

Michelle and her husband, Ben live in Cupsaw Lake and have two small children. Ben volunteered as a t-ball coach for their daughter’s team. The Kerr’s are parishioners at St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church in Saddle River. Michelle earned her B.S. in Visual Arts Education as well as her M.S. in Childhood Education at NYIT. She recently earned her Masters plus 30 additional graduate credits. Michelle has been teaching since 2010 and is a first-grade teacher in Nutley.

Michelle is actively involved with helping our veterans. Since 2007, Michelle has been a volunteer for Soldier’s Angels, a charity that provides aid and comfort to our active military and veterans on a national level. She involves her entire school in the annual Valentine’s for Veterans for the local VFW and AMVETS in Nutley. She has her class send letters and cards to veterans and active military throughout the school year. For her patriotic efforts, she was named the VFW Teacher of the Year in Nutley in 2018. She worked with a local resident and helped organize the Borough’s first Veterans’ Salute this past Veteran’s Day. She also organized the annual Memorial Day Ceremony where she invited local veterans, active military, and local scouts to help in the events. She also worked with Deputy Mayor Landis on our Hometown Hero Banners which celebrate our current and fallen local veterans. She also volunteers in her community at Cupsaw Lake and also organized a food collection for our local Center for Food Action.

Michelle was elected to the Ringwood BOE and served a one year term in 2021. In January 2022, Michelle was sworn in as a councilwoman after being unanimously selected by the Borough Council to fill a one year term. She was then elected to serve a one year term throughout 2023. She is currently on the budget committee as well as the Fair Share Housing committee. Michelle is the Secretary of the Ringwood Republican Club as well as Social Media Chair for the Passaic County Republican Women’s Club.

Since becoming a councilwoman, Michelle has worked with the Borough on Trex recycling collections where she collected plastic film and delivered them to participating stores. She collected over 500 lbs of plastic within six months time and earned a free bench for our community. She also worked with Deputy Mayor Landis and a local resident on an anti-littering poster contest for school aged children in the Borough where winners were displayed at our public library.

Michelle is currently running for re-election for a four year term. She would be honored to have your support!
