Councilman Paul Rubacky

Paul Rubacky and his wife Gwen have lived in Ringwood for over 30 years where they raised two daughters, Sarah and Emma. Their daughters were both educated in Ringwood public schools and attended Montclair State University, where Sarah received her Master’s Degree in School Counseling. Emma graduated with a BA in Business.

Paul was raised in Franklin Lakes where he attended Ramapo High School. He then went on to study at Nasson College and New York University. For the past forty years Paul has maintained a career in the financial arenas, most recently serving as a CFO for Alternative Capital Investments, an asset management firm in New Jersey. Prior to this Paul was the CFO for Quad Group and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Paterson, overseeing the finances for the Diocese, including the parishes, schools and benefit plans. The Diocese’s benefit plans provide pensions, medical and unemployment benefit to over 3,000 employees.

For nine years Paul served on the Board of Trustees of the College of Mount Saint Vincent. He joined the Board when the college was experiencing financial difficulties; by the end of his term, the college had developed a substantial endowment.

Paul and his family have been an active part of the Skyline Lakes community. Paul served as a decorated firefighter in Sanford, ME and Franklin Lakes and joined the Skyline Lakes Fire Department immediately upon moving to Ringwood.  He is also a member of the Hunger Walk Committee. Paul also served in many roles at St. Catherine’s Church and the local Knights of Columbus council and coached local sports teams in which his daughters participated. Paul has been an active builder for Habitat for Humanity for 30 years locally in Paterson, but also in other areas of the US as well as in England. He is currently serving as a Board Member and Treasurer for the local charity Rebuilding Together North Jersey which has repaired many homes in Ringwood. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Paul and Emma worked with CUMAC to deliver food and supplies to shut-in families within Paterson. Paul provides free landscaping and snow removal services to veterans, seniors and others, his favorite client is Strengthen Our Sisters.  Paul was an elected member of the Ringwood Board of Education for over five years, serving a year as President and chair of the finance committee.

On July 25, 2023, Paul was sworn in as a Member of Borough Council after being unanimously selected by the Borough Council to fill an unexpired term. He is running in this election for a two-year unexpired term.
